WHAT IS A VERTEBRAL SUBLUXATION? Abnormal motion or position of spinal bones (spinal kinesiopathology). The bones of the spine have lost their normal motion and position. This can restrict your ability to turn and bend. This may be due to an accident, lifting injury, or inproper life style habits such as sleeping with your head on the arm of a couch or on your stomach, etc.This sets in motion the four following components.
ABNORMAL NERVOUS SYSTEM FUNCTION (neuropathophysiology) Improper spinal function can choke, stretch or irritate nerve tissue. The resulting nervous system dysfunction can cause symptoms to that specific area or elsewhere in the body.
ABNORMAL MUSCLE FUNCTION(myopathology) Muscles supporting the spine can weaken, atrophy or become tight and go into spasm.The resulting scar tissue can change muscle tone, requiring repeated spinal treatments (adjustments).
ABNORMAL SOFT TISSUE FUNCTION(histopathology)A rise in temperature from an increase in blood or lymph supply can result in swelling and inflammation. Discs can bulge, herniate, tear or degenerate. Other soft tissues may suffer permanent damage.
ABNORMAL FUNCTION OF THE SPINE AND BODY(pathophysiology) Bone spurs and other abnormal bony growths attempt to fuse malfunctioning spinal joints. The spinal decay, scar tissue and long term nerve dysfunction can cause other systems of the body to fail.

What to expect on your first visit with Dr. Wirthlin. A comprehensive consultation, case history, physical examination and x-rays (if necessary) are performed. If indicated other imaging or laboratory testing is made available. In addition you will receive a careful chiropractic structural examination with special emphasis on the spine and its related structures and nervous system. The examination of your spine and musculoskeletal system is necessary to evaluate structure and function. On your second office visit each patient will receive a through report of findings by Dr. Wirthlin. Treatment necessary for corrective and supportive care will be presented and discussed and a specific plan will be established for your fastest road to recovery.
